Bernie Stowe Field
Timeless elegance
On May 19, 2018, The Rosie Reds were honored to take part in the dedication of the renovated Bernie Stowe Field. The Reds and Reds Community Fund renovated Field One at Gilday Riverside Park on Cincinnati’s west side in honor of long-time clubhouse manager Bernie Stowe.
The field received significant upgrades and additions including new dugouts, scoreboard, bleacher awnings, fencing and a concession building. The Stowe’s are long-time Rosie Reds members and the organization pledged its support of the field renovation project, donating $40,000 to help renovate the dugouts.
Bernie Stowe worked for the team for 67 years, starting in 1953 as a 12-year-old ballboy at Crosley Field. Stowe was a ballboy for the ’53 All-Star Game, eventually became the senior clubhouse and equipment manager. In 2008, he was given the Reds Hall of Fame’s Powell Crosley Jr. Award, which honors staff members’ extraordinary service and dedication. He retired in 2013 and passed away in 2016 at the age of 80.
